About Me: With six years of debate and public speaking experience, I believe that speech and debate are essential tools in career and personal development as well as fuel for positive societal change. I am a Ghanaian graduate with immense passion for the development of debate around the world.
Judge Philosophy: As someone who initially struggled with debating, I respect the efforts made my all debaters. I believe judges should adjudicate debates fairly and promote good sportsmanship, but must also take partial responsibility for the growth of speakers. As a judge, expect constructive personal feedback from me at your request.
On how I judge debates, I place emphasis on the relevance of arguments and responses over the volume of either. I appreciate a few well reasoned points to numerous under-analysed arguments. Style and clarity are also important but as secondary vehicles of relevant arguements.
Each argument should also have an impact analysis. I want to know why your argument is important and why we should value its implications.
Relax. You've got this.
