Binghamton University's 2nd Annual Online Debate Tournament

Round 1

*Does not count opponents in bye or forfeit rounds.

About Me: I teach in the Department of Communication Studies and Theatre where I am an associate professor and department chair. I competed in policy debate in high school and CEDA in college.
Judge Philosophy: I have judged a wide variety of formats from policy (NDT and CEDA) to parli (NPTE and NPDA) to worlds. I like the technical proficiency and really smart k and cplan/disad strategies from policy and top tier parli, but I also really love the humor, creativity, and presence I have seen in the best worlds debaters. I am open to just about any argument (excluding the really offensive) and my only personal preference is that I am not a fan of blippy tag line debate. I think strong debaters provide evidence and warrants and I also think a couple really smart arguments can sometimes trump 15-20 mediocre points. Have fun and good luck!
