About Me: Google classroom brings VR expeditions to German schools
google classroom
Dive into the Pacific with your classmates, swim through shipwrecks, look a manta ray in your eyes - all without having to hold your breath. With Google Expeditions, school classes can now explore the classroom. The virtual reality system allows school classes to travel to remote places on earth, discover foreign planets, or even explore the interior of the human body. Students will receive cardboards, virtual reality goggles from Google. The journey is controlled by teachers using a tablet. In this way, they can illustrate abstract lesson content and convey an understanding of the world "out there".

Students of a primary school in Berlin-Zehlendorf test Google Expeditions.
Explore the world in virtual reality
The Google Expeditions program includes a collection of different virtual reality panoramas - 360 degree shots, 3-D photos and videos, as well as authentic ambient sounds that can complement the existing teaching and learning resources on a variety of subjects and subjects. While students participate in the virtual expeditions, teachers will be provided with background information and questions about the topic that can be discussed with their classes. We are very pleased that with the "Stiftung Lesen" we have been able to gain an experienced cooperation partner for the implementation of the program, who supports the use of teaching materials along the anchored teaching and learning objectives with the development of accompanying materials.
In addition to exploring distinctive locations such as Mount Everest or the Pyramids of Giza, virtual tours of various exhibitions are also possible thanks to our partner museums. For example, school classes can admire the exhibits in the Senckenberg Natural History Museum Frankfurt or explore the wide corridors of the American Museum of Natural History.
