Comments: Needs to use more sources to help prove points rather than stating your opinion. Can easily find sources for what you are arguing for. For the sources you did find properly cite the video used and who stated this, giving your source more validity. The sources you did use were helpful for your argument and made me feel compassion for animals in that they have the right to live normal lives just as we do as humans, something I wish I heard you argue during your rounds. Liked the scenario you created to put me in the mind of a captured animal. Would've liked to have seen you also focus on how animals other than ones in the circus are treated, but this example hit close to home. I also liked how you stated that we are pretty much abusing these animals rights according to the animal welfare act. I liked how you attacked the opposition at the conclusion of your second speech stating that filing animals teeth is not similar to filing human nails in any way. I like the proposition you argued for at the conclusion of your debate, showing that you genuinely care about the health and safety of animals, just as we all should. I wish you expanded on your arguments a little more, for instance when you mention that animals need to visit a vet 6 times a year, I would have liked to have heard that animals in the entertainment industry do, or do not receive this type of care so I could have more easily chosen a side. Wasn't such a big fan of comparing what animals go through to slavery. Liked argument regarding how animals in entertainment industry are likely saved from death, just would've liked to have heard a source to go along with it. Thought you could have responded to more of your opponents arguments, her argument targeting yours regarding filing animals teeth really pushed me in the opposite direction, so you attacking her arguments instead of making more of your own could've been helpful in swaying my opinion.

The decision is for the Proposition: Maddie Kenyon

    Reason for Decision:

I decided to side with the proposition due to the fact that I was a big fan of the sources Maddie brought in, in addition to the way she responded to many of Maya's arguments. Maya could have brought in more sources to help build her argument, but also to rebuke Maddie's argument, if she had done this the debate would have been closer in my mind. I agreed with the argument coming from Maddie's side more and she made me feel for the animals who aren't able to live the lives they should do to humans abusing their rights, which is why I sided with Maddie in this debate.
