    Category Matt Coppola Clara Harding
    Use of evidence: 5 5.3
    Delivery skill: 4.7 4.3
    Coherence of arguments: 4.4 4.3
    Responsiveness to opponent: 5 4.5
Identification of key points: 4.9 4.7
Comments: 1. How preserving extraterrestrial microbial life and ecosystems can contribute to relocation of humans? What the extent of scientific research and preserving effort can prevent reasonable extent of prevention from unexpected damages? How similar the environment between other planets and earth to guarantee immigrants without changing/damaging the environment of the other planets, not earth?
    2. Pointing out 'law is already exist' from late speech from opp speaker by saying 'if I assume the case is true, it is already hindering exploration so it is contradiction' was good response. But, it was not direct response to clarify the scope of law as prop speaker said. Because of your leniency and the vagueness of what the extent of additional sterilization and other preserving efforts compared to status quo, I was not sure how far your suggestion is from the status quo.
    3. Until the game is officially over, you should not take your guard down. I could still make decision faster, but I can also use the remaining time as long as I keep the deadline.
    1. How overpopulation urgently require relocation to human race to other planets?
    2. Additional preserving efforts are really that expensive to hinder space exploration?
    3. 'Impossible to 100% sterilization', 'inevitable environmental damate' were quite extreme cases. Debate is about comparison.
    4. 'International law is already exist' is good response to point out the set-up from proposition was behind from status quo. But it doesn't mean the law is already effective in the status quo without sufficient explanation.
    5. Your speech was quite fast. In this type of tournament, there are techniques and time to catch up your speech, but providing comfortable listening to your judge is also important part of debate.

The decision is for the Proposition: Matt Coppola

    Reason for Decision:

Note : As debaters said, I would like to say thanks to speakers who made this wonderful speeches and I would also like to say congratulations to their progress in this far, finals.

    1. Scope of Current International law
I don't know the law is already exist or not until the end of debate because two speaker provide different scope of international law without decisive supporting materials. But what I got the point is, even if the law is exist, the environment is still damaging. In this case, what I need to ask is do we need to do something new. Opposition said 100% preservation is impossible while proposition point out there are leniency with the specific condition ; scientific research to clarify it is really irreversible or not. Although I also think the measures from proposition was a little bit vague as opposition said, but proposition cases provided more realistic comparison than opposition in holistic manner.

    2. Benefit/harm to Scientific Research
This case is go to proposition. Opposition speaker mainly point out this issue by linking re-location issue, but there were clearly other benefits from proposition speaker's case. Although the benefits were basically based on the analogy because we don't know what kind of extraterrestrial life forms from the speech from both sides and our scientific knowledge, but it is more closer and imminent issue than re-location issue and the response from opposition was based on extreme case(100%) not the relevant comparison between benefit/harm in this issue.

    3. Impact to relocation issue
This case is go to opposition. I don't think proposition speaker explained enough how preserving extraterrestrial microbial life and ecosystems can help relocation process for humans to other planets, and opposition effectively point out the environmental damage was inevitable. But just suggesting overpopulation issue without sufficient explanation, I don't know what the level of over-population actually require such urgent and swift relocation so I don't know how 'relocation ' is so much important and urgent issue in this debate.

Thank you both of you for this amazing round. Congratulations on 3rd Clara. This was an excellent round and you are a great debater. This final round was great. Thank you Mr. Lee for judging me a whole 3 rounds, I'm glad you didn't get tired of hearing the same person speak for over 10 times and well over 30 minutes. I will consider everything said and every judge comment as I move on as a debater.

    Thank you,
