Comments: I think you misunderstood your opponents argument about reparations. He cited a case where slaveholders were paid reparations (for the loss of their "property"). There is an interesting potential here, but you waited too late to come back to it.

I thought your response on new citizens taking on the responsibilities of their new nation was a good one.

Your opponent threw a lot at you, and you didn't seem to be able to keep up.

You never really responded to the opposition point that while you raised the possibility of non-compensation reparations, you never really defined that.

You never responded to the oppositions critique of your definition of African Americans, or of the difficulty of identifying culpable firms.

You didn't really response to a key part of the oppositions counter-proposal. It was not just to educate African Americans to improve their economic outlook, but to better education all Americans as a way to address racism.

I didn't really understand your argument WRT and Welfare. Why would a one-time payment get someone off of Welfare, if the ongoing welfare payments did not? Does the reason for the money matter? Is there a difference in the amount of money you are proposing matter?

Be careful of your language. You kept calling your opponents failures, "miserable" I think you can make your arguments without that flourish.

You did a nice job of putting a lot of points to argue on the table, but while maintaining good clarity in your communication style. You had a good pace. You made your point, and then you moved on.

The decision is for the Opposition: Emman Johari

    Reason for Decision:

The opposition had a very strong argument, and carried the ballot from a number of angles. The opposition's counter plan was never effectively addressed by the proposition. The proposition didn't counter the oppositions argument about the difficulty of administering such a program. The discussion around the economic impact of a reparation program on SS and Welfare to the recipients and the economy was carried by the opposition.
