Starting in Fall 2013, BUODP became available to allow colleges and high schools from across the world to participate in an interlinked curriculum from their home institutions. Participating institutions for Fall 2013 include:
Over a six week period, students enrolled in the curriculum will work in small groups with peers at their institution to research and prepare speeches on a weekly basis. Each week, students will record and post a speech competing online against students from other institutions. At the end of five weeks, those students who remain undefeated will engage in a final round where videos are due on a daily basis for the next five days. To see what these rounds look like, check out past semesters here.
Each institution is given the opportunity to run an online tournament within the class in order to prepare for the curriculum, as well as the ability to host a follow-up inter-team tournament after the conclusion of the curriculum.
The curriculum is available to be interlinked at both the college and high school levels. Institutional participation requires that the curriculum be a graded component within the instructor's syllabus. However, the extent of how much is up to the individual instructor. Check out the example syllabus section for examples.
If you're interested in having your institution join BUODP's interlinked curriculum, please fill out our form here. Specific dates for participation are selected a semester ahead of time. If you have further questions about the online curriculum please feel free to contact us.
