Other
About Me: I am a Lecturer and the Director of Debate at the University of Michigan-Flint. My background is in policy debate. I competed primarily in NDT/CEDA debate for Regis University (CO) though I did some NPDA debate as well. I was a graduate student and policy debate coach at The University of Denver for several years as well. I currently coach the UM-Flint debate team and we compete in the British Parliamentary format.
Judge Philosophy: I think that clear impact analysis and comparison are important. I try to evaluate debates only based on arguments made in the round and tend to rely on my flow to determine what arguments are successfully rebutted and if arguments are conceded. However, the question of how the debate should be adjudicated to me is a matter to be taken up by debaters so if there are arguments made that suggest I should evaluate the debate differently I will defer to those.
