Comments: You did a really nice job with this debate. You use/cite your evidence really well throughout the debate. You have a really good pace as you speech and use a lot of rhetorical devices to your advantage. You presented a clear and coherent argument which made my job easy - thank you and keep up the good work! For someone who is new to the activity (my guess based on being early in high school) you have a lot of raw talent to work with. You presented a lot of clear arguments and did so with passion. I do think you need to work a bit on structure during your rebuttal and most importantly how to close the deal. I think you took a bold risk standing up for animal testing and you did well with it. In the end you should try to focus a bit more on generating clear strong negative impacts to doing the plan instead of a general "detrimental to our nation." Keep up the good work!!

The decision is for the Proposition: Elizabeth Gellis

    Reason for Decision:

Ultimately the prop made it clear that there are lots of alternatives out there. You both did a nice job debating the merits of a few alternatives, but the prop made a clear case that while animal testing was useful in the past, we have moved on and have many new alternatives that are cost effective, accurate, and more humane. These arguments, on the whole, do not have a solid response by the opposition.
